Dumb question here gents, ho does a guy remove the slack from the accelerator cable?
truck is an 83 K20, 350/TH400 and I have about an inch and a half of slack in the accelerator cable that keeps me from getting to WOT because the pedal hits the floorboard.
Short of replacing the cable, is there a way these can be adjusted to remove the slack? The carburetor end has a plastic guide and an eyelet that looks to be pressed in place with no adjustment. The end that goes through the accelerator pedal has a stop crimped in place over the end.
Can I just crimp a new stop in place once the slack is taken out?
School me.

How about some pictures of what you’re working on? What carb/intake, are you using? It might be quicker and easier to just buy the correct brackets instead of trying to engineer what you need.

Basically you need the resting position of the cable to move away from the throttle arm on the carb.

Move the cable mounting bracket towards the firewall. Bend the upper half of the accelerator pedal lever (inside the cab) above the pivot, bend it away from the firewall. Raise and move forward where the cable attaches to the throttle arm.

Post some pics. Is it the right cable? Was it on the truck when you got it? Are the brackets the right ones? Which carb?
You can get a nice universal braided stainless steel one and make it work perfect.
