I replaced the factory AC in my 85 with Vintage Air. In doing so, I lost the PS floor vent that was tied to the OEM AC system. My truck did/does not have a DS vent, only the plastic kickpanel cover.
I want to add factory style manual vents in the kickpanels. It seems to be a little confusing to say the least when looking at different websites.
I know for a fact I can restore the passenger side with a manual vent. And I found a set on ebay that has both PS and DS.
My question is: On the DS, is there a provision (Hole) behind the plastic cover for a factory vent or will I have to make a cutout in the metal to fit one? Is this a fundamental difference in factory AC vs Non AC cabs?

I don't recall ever seeing a left vent provision in an AC equipped cab.

My 87 only has the vent on the passenger side, the drivers side would interfere with the emergency brake pedal

Thanks. So the question becomes does non ac trucks have different e-brake pedals?

You're about to. Just stopped by the truck and pulled the plastic cover. No hole:(
Time to go into engineer mode.

Assuming that the squares without AC which have vents on both sides, also have air entering the vents from the air intake on the cowl. So then, if there is no hole in the kick panel on the AC trucks driver's side, does that mean it does not have the air from the cowl vent either?

Well I know that when I wash my truck, water exits the drain holes on the bottom of the kick panel area on the driver's side so I'm assuming "yes"?

Yeah, water drains down both sides so airflow shouldn't be an issue.
