ok all 81 up chevy or gmc trucks had plastic grills

in my opinion the 89-91 grill ads a modern look to our trucks
X2 it does give a modern look. I've always liked the gmc grills more. It has this "wide mouth" look..:)

I like the round eye fronts the best...

Followed by the 89-91 fronts...

And then the rest.


Doing the 89-91 swap on your 85 will look good. Many times I have seen a truck with this swap and had to look closer to realize it was done. If the whole too much plastic thing is actually an issue with you, look around and see what kind of billet grilles are out there for it.
