I unhooked the est wire, but I didn't unhook the battery afterwards, am I supposed to do that? ****.Congrats dude, you got on this project like a duck on a june bug.
Did you disconnect the est wire while setting the timing and unhook the battery afterwards?
Hopefully it will give me the time I need to finish the rear tailpan repair and have time to either purchase a new or rebuilt short block or build one of my own.Cool Dawg !!! Got'r Done ehhh !!! I am sure you will, but just as a reminder, be watching under the truck closely for a few days. Notice the parking spots before you walk away after parking so you know if spills were there before you pulled up or if they are new when you come back out and look under it later. I'd open up the hood and give it a good looking over the next couple days too. Also pay more attention to guages the next couple days. You just want to make sure you don't spring any leaks that can cause your time, effort and money to be a waste.
I really really really hope to be wrong too dawg, but for real, I'm not going to be suprised if you're blowing blue smoke within 6 months. Good news is, if an when that happens, all you'll need is a short block and you can use the same heads and you know they are good. Maybe with any luck GM used Chromemolly rings in TBI motors instead of cast rings and they can handle the added power and compression. Right down your odometer reading too so you know how many miles you have since the head swap. Good Luck with it brutha. Good Job !!!![]()
