it's not so much as that higher compression would blow out the bottom end, it's the fact that it's old and factory and has miles, wear, and tear. Anytime you rebuild the top end you run the risk of blowing out the bottom end sometime. Same could be said for the top end as well. if you rebuild the bottom end and don't redo the heads or cam you can have issues there.

By comparing those heads, I see at least a 1 point gain in compression ratio. With the mileage on his motor, I see it blowing blue smoke and burning as much oil as it does gas in less than 6 monhts. I say 6 months because he doesn't drive it much living close to work and the boat ramp not being so far away. Otherwise, I'd say within a month.

The mechanic who got me these heads said I don't have to worry about "blowing out the bottom end". So we will see. I known him a long time, and when he isn't running his own heavy truck repair business, he's racing his Cuda, so I trust his word. And if it does, I know what window I can drive this truck through, lol.

Oh nooooooo, so he's a Dodge mechanic? All the more reason not to trust him. If those heads change the compression ratio to much, I'll assure you, you will be burning oil soon. I won't go as far as bottom ned. I am saying rings will give up.
