This is awesome. I grew up in the 80s - my first (new) car was an 84 Monte SS (I know the town its in and would like to get it back....just no idea who has it) and although US cars left alot to be desired then, I'd love to have one of these...or a mid 80s Caprice wagon.

They were still unique enough that you could look at a car and tell its make and year within 3-5 yrs.

Cool lookin throw back. Even better that it has sentimental value.

Was the driver side tail light melted in the first pic?

Lol. The lense had been busted and somebody crammed pieces of a red Valvoline bottle in there, then smeared some kind of black glue all over it.

It was probably the same genius that sprayed lube all over the door panels and window cranks, I'm guessing to make the windows operate easier.

And the same genius that glued a cardboard box to the floor hump.

There's a few other custom touches as well, lol.

Dark blue or light blue? The light blue are '88-'90 iirc, and I've seen a couple of those in the last few years. I can't remember the last time I saw a dark blue Eurosport wagon. The most common colors were dark gray and also white, at least in my area. I consider myself lucky to have got a black one.

Those wheels in particular were used in '84-'86 and while I've never seen them original on a non-Eurosport, I do believe they were available. The '87-'90 aluminum wheels were styled very differently and look like hubcaps to some people. I have a set of those too. But as you said, most of them came with the standard rally wheels.
Dark blue eurosport. Pretty nice color actually. Ohio car so it may be a toaster now.

Those are hard to find these days.

I figured out my thermostat problem:

I guess I should have at least peeked into the thermostat housing before I put the hose on.

I think it was seeds of some kind, hard to tell now. There was also the remains of a couple June bugs. When I got the car, the radiator was gone and the hoses were just cut. Something must have tried nesting in there.

Haha, I always thought they looked better on the donor source anyway.

I actually prefer the '86-only headlight setup, like this:

But I'll stick with the stock '87-'90 headlights to keep just a little variety around here, lol.
Change them wheels and tint the windows and damn thats sexy!!

The monte carlo wheels look pretty bad on that car.

I always liked how they looked, but I got the aftermarket wheels on a trade and have never got around to getting a couple more tires for them. I like those ones because they are black with a machined lip, just like the original '87 VR's were done up. I really like the stock mags too, but there's no real performance tires in a 14" and they don't fit over my front brakes either.
