Hello this is my first post on GMsquarebody and i just wanted to say thanks to everyone with posts reguarding LS swaps on these trucks, info was VERY helpfull and def could not have done it without yalls advice so thanks.
Anyways, my project started when i was 17 as a 87 Scottsdale 4x4 originally equipped with a very worn out 350 TBI i converted to a one belt setup(some old pics are of original 3 belt setup). Purchased for 800 bucks none running, found owner had somehow installed injectors 180" from correct location(even had a dowell pin) and cracked the injector pod. Swapped tbi assembly with junkyard unit, cap and rotor and had it runnin ! Burned a lot of oil, rings were shot, i could spin it over by hand, and always had terrible spark knock. Desperately needed some attention but i drove it all through high school and 2 years auto tech college.
Decided to greatly update the powertrain right after new years 2014 ,new drivetrain consists of 5.3 LM7 block, 243 heads, comp cam 54-426-11 XR275HR, LS6 valvetrain, a built 4L60e, and was able to retain the original NP208 transfer case and driveshafts i will post more details and pictures as i go ...
