hey im pretty new to all of this, just got my grandpas 86 k10 with 36,600 miles on it this past summer. it came with the 305 rated at 160 net horsepower. i am planning on removing the cat and doing a true dual exhaust with straight through mufflers, an x pipe, 2.5 inch tubing, and removing the smog pump. how much power/ torque should i expect to gain?

If you add 2 Nos stickers and a heartbeat of America license plate you'll have like 450hp also the cherry bomb decals not stickers are another 23hp each lol, I'm just messing around but maybe another 5-10horse maybe that'd be my guess

I'd say a bit of a cam RV etc, a set of headers and maybe an intake or do a 350 swap with a set of voted heads cam headers and intake that'd make a noticeable difference, did you just join???

Also check all your ignition and make sure its all good, I threw an accel super hei coil on and it made a noticeable difference in throttle responce I also ran a bigdisappointment braided ground from my block to the frame to make sure spark was as strong as possible, and swap on an open filment aircleaner edelbrock with a 3-4 inch tall k&n does your truck have a 4 barrel or 2 barrel Rochester???

Welcome aboard got any pics of your truck??? The nice thing is you can put some money into the 305 and when you decide to do the 350 swap you can use the same parts, I think you'd be happy with a 350 over the 305 is it a daily driver?

well my grandpa owned it since new and i was lucky enough to have the keys tossed my way. but it runs great now.. well after i had to do a carb rebuild. i was stallin aprox once everytime i drove haha. but its great i want to have a 2 or 4 inch lift with 35x12.5 inch tires do some engine mods and finish the stereo in it. i have 2 12 inch subs in it with 6x9s in the corners and 4 inch speakers up front. just need a good amp. but love the truck, went and got it stuck the day i got it!

This.

Personally though, if it were my grandpa's clean old truck, I'd leave it alone and just enjoy it for what it is.

Dual 2.5 is too big, stick with 2.25 or even 2" for a stock 305.

This^^^^ These trucks get molested and hacked to **** on a daily basis. My brother in law got a sweet ass 76 Suburban for 400 bucks, had I got the thing before he did I would give the original paint a good buff job, tune up and drive the SOB. Instead he rattle canned the thing gloss black and I would not give him 10 bucks for it after his efforts.

The trucks are great to begin with.
