83 K10 Quad Shock Removal

I've seen a few guys talking about this but i want to be clear before I start working on my truck. I have factory quad shocks with stock suspension but I'm putting the 6in rough country lift on it and have heard that the quad shocks make it ride rough so I would like to just run single shocks. Wonder which shocks I need to take off and if it's worth it or not.

I had the standard shock setup on my Burb. When I installed a factory quad shock setup, the ride stayed the same.

The "additional" shock mounting for the quad shock setup is a more effective location compared to the "regular" shock location.

Installing a "Rough Country" lift and you're concerned about it "riding rough"? I've got news for ya...

I will NEVER believe that removing shock absorbers will improve ride quality. That is a completely absurd notion no matter how you cut it.

PLUS it will devalue your truck even further than a 6 inch lift ESPECIALLY a crappy, cheap one like rough country.

I'm not concerned about it "riding rough". I was simply asking if it would "improve" the rough ride...not get rid of it. And as for devaluing my truck....I I got the truck for free from someone that was going to have it crushed..pulled the trash 305 out and put a 454 that I built to with a tbh350 with performance shift kit in and and I'm building the truck how I like it...so as for you saying its "devaluing" my truck....I dont think you can devalue a truck you paid ZERO dollars for....but I appreciate the advise sir. I will not remove the quad shocks...have a nice day.

One flaw to the quad shocks is the added stress to the lower mount on the axle. Many people have had the mount crack. I've put a lot of miles and hard use on mine and they are still fine.

I have the quad shock design on mine but the previous owner removed when the lift kit was added. Was looking at changing all shocks and springs to a 4" lift. Rear has blocks at the moment.
Any reviews on the rough country or pro comp setup? Should I also put the quads back on?

When I put new shocks on my mine truck I went with skyjacker hydros. Rides alright considering 4 leaves up front and 7 in the rear

I saw those on ebay, about the same price as the pro comp ones.
Not sure how many leaves are in the kit. Not sure if the pic is accurate.

I can't remember where I bought my springs but I got the HD front and rear. The rear is fine but I wish I would have gone with the 3 leaves up front. 4 makes for a rough ride but hell, it is a truck. The hydro vs. Nitro makes the ride so much better/smoother

Right, I saw standard and HD springs while looking. Probably just use standard ones. Either way it won't be like riding in a Caddy.
