So I have replaced literally EVERYTHING on my front diff. I cannot figure out the oil deflectors and how they are supposed to sit on the axle. They keep coming out and would make a helluva noise if I tried to run them. Any advice? I also cannot figure out the "Spacer, outer shaft bearing part # 376852" called for in the Corporate axle 77-83 guide I got from this site. I don't remember them coming out when I tore this apart. Thanks for ANY help. I gotta get this thing back on the road.

Never heard if those things but I am not too much of a guru when it comes to axle guts. I know the basic old school factory stuff. Never heard of oil deflectors?

That's new to me too. Oil deflector inside the carrier housing??? I wonder is this is a front axle thing.

I'll have to go look at this guide you're talking about on the spacer.

I'm not finding this guide Rob. If you would, get there and then get me link to that page.

So a while back I got a link to maintenance manuals here on the site. I downloaded the following:
Corporate_axle_1977-1983
ST_330_83_1983_Chevrolet_light_duty_truck_10_to_30_service_manual

In the corporate axle manual it shows the exploded view of the axle & diff components, and from the spindle group in towards the diff, on the axle, it shows the following:
spindle, bearing, seal, spacer(?) (those 3 inside the spindle) seal and deflector. ???? It looks as if the deflector would sit flush against the shorter axle? I hope this makes sense. It's killing me.

Noway to get me a link to it??? It's beginning to sound to me you're actually talking on the outside toward the hubs now and not the differential part of it.

yes hit is out at the hubs. I was just referencing the whole front. this says it sits between the spindle bearing and seal and the axle shaft u-joint on the outer axle shafts
