Hah, still jealous. A '79 T/A is still one of my ultimate bucket list cars. Not gonna say "dream car" cause that sounds full of ****, but yeah I've wanted a black and gold '79 T/A with a red interior, 4spd with a 400 since I was about 8 or 9 years old (hell, they weren't even that old back then). Still got the matchbox car I had as a kid on my desk (it was an '80 turbo chicken model but even back then I rubbed off the big turbo decal because my uncle and his friends taught me how ****** the 301 was lol). I'd take one in any color with any drivetrain at this point, them fuckers are hard to find up here and expensive as hell to boot.

that one floor pan has to be welded in still going to do it from up top, it's the driver's in between pan as I call it, in between the seats.

I also has a piece to trim and some plate to go in on the side of that torque box. I'm tired of seeing it sit, it's not gonna be a 1 perfect, like I wanted but more roadkill, sort of. A runner/driver not ashow car, and not dangerous or unsafe. I'm gonna patch up that bad wheel well, couple other spots and send it.

At this point I have dad's engine pulled and trans, engine is cleaned, re gasket'd everywhere, and painted ready to drop in, gotta clean/paint the trans.

I'm trying my best to stay on track and get this back together ASAP.

Turbo technology has come a long way... think about getting out the fine brush and repainting.;)

Hah, oh I know all about how great turbos are these days, I've had a few fun turbo cars over the years (my current "daily" is a 15 year old turbo sedan that's only slightly modded and as a result is an insane thrill of a vehicle to get to drive every day) and I have a lot of respect for them. But in 1980 taking the last "fast" car in America and replacing a 6.6l beast (the 455 being long gone) with a gas crisis 301 and attaching a non-intercooled turbo and running like 8lbs of boost (which still risked blowing up the engine in stock form) is not what I would consider great turbo technology. No way to dress that one up nicely without completely replacing everything

******* man. This is good and horrific at the same time. Progress is good but a whole vehicle dissected and seemingly exploded around a garage does not exactly exude a warm and fuzzy feeling.;)

Keep on keeping on buddy. When you get it running swing on down and I'll buy you a beer.:happy160:
