79 k10 Newbie issues. Stressed out Mom, please help!

Thanks for all the welcomes!! Plan on pulling the drive shafts first thing tomorrow, I'll post how it goes after... Hopefully we see movement!! If it turns out to be the t-case, any suggestions where we could get a 205 for a decent price or what's some options on the twins shifter conversion? I keep reading, that pretty much everyone switches. According to the vins and and numbers on the Engine,trans and other things I've found on it, its all original. Pretty cool I'd like to keep it that way if we can.. Thanks again!!

I had 496,000 miles on my NP203 before I had it rebuilt. It would just jam in 4Lo and I had to get underneath to fix it. No, it wasn't the shifter. A lot of folks swear by the NP205 and I ain't knocking it.

If it is not moving, the drive shafts won’t spin. Pull the front and rear at the same time. Knowing the truck won’t move with no drive shafts, toss it in gear and see if the output shafts spin. This will isolate trans/transfer case issues or differential/axel/brake etc.

We have a local place called Drivetrain . com in Nevada, you should have something like this on the East coast also that sells rebuilt t cases. You have other options besides junk yards.

Anyway if it’s a ft 4wd and rear ds was out, no one including the OP mentioned driving it with the front axle only. That would tell a lot

Honestly it sounds like ur really low on trans fluid, run it, bring it up to operating temp and check the fluid level
