Thanks to @yevgenievich I've got a C6 Corvette brake setup coming my way. It's going to require 18" wheels for clearance, so I measured out the rear tub so I know how wide of a rim I can stuff in the back. I rigged up a gauge to simulate a 18"x10" with a 295/35 tire, using a 6" backspacing. It cleared to the inside but had more clearance to the outside, so a 5.75" backspacing should work well.

If I removed the seatbelt humps and removed the flange in the upper wheel well arch, I'm confident a 10.5" rim would fit with maybe even a 335 width tire. That would be awesome, but at that point, the tire and wheel package cost goes up substantially.

Your tire looks wire thin! Super low profile.
Seriously tho. Looks like a tight squeeze. Gunna look nice in there.

Been getting back into this finally. I've got the Detroit Speed clutch master bracket fitted to the firewall. The goal is to have s factory-ish appearance, so I'm going to spot weld it on from the inside, then use seam sealer around the outside.
Looks like will be a nice set up. More excited about your set up than getting my car going with a stock 305, m20 and a 8.2 ten bolt.

It was about 3/4" to the leaf spring, 1" or more to the inner tub wall. Only about 1/4" to the shock and the seatbelt hump though. A standard shock will give a lot more clearance, but it might not matter if I end up relocating them inboard a bit. The seatbelt hump would be an easy fix... just knock it in with the bfh. But with less than the 6" backspacing, it should clear fine with no mods.

I can't remember, you were sticking with TPI weren't you? Still sounds like a hoot to drive. It should have a torque curve shaped like a tree stump.

Other than that it has decent torque
it looks like if he keeps his rpm under 5000 rpm he will be off okay. Good torque through the band and a increase in HP, i cant see how that would be bad unless youre looking for super sport or a super tow-machine with torque in a very specific rpm to maximize utility at load but general efficiency elsewhere?

Very cool project. I'm following this one.

How long have you had this car?

I think it's been 3 years now maybe. I'd like to say I've accomplished more, but it's been slow going.

I've got 295/35/r18s on my 2000 SS and I wanna say they are 11.5" wide. Not for sure tho.

That's what was on the car when I got it. Except the backspacing is around 3.5 inches, so they stuck out past the lip some. And the air shocks kept them off the quarters.

Just placed an order with Summit. I've got front springs coming so I can start building out the subframe once I get the minor repairs finished. I went with drop springs from UMI. I also ordered a new brake/clutch pedal assembly so I can get the clutch master cylinder length mocked up with it all on the bench. Then the bracket can get welded to the firewall.

The engine has a couple coats of primer on it now. This time tomorrow, it should be orange. Maybe. I'm not 100% certain yet. Maybe corporate blue. But I like Chevy orange better and I already have 5 or 6 cans of it.

Then why don't you just paint it orange..?
