How durable is the graphite coating? Would it be good for the frame or underside of our trucks? I'm wondering how long it would last on gravel roads.

It should hold up well. Most of my experience with it is on this piece of equipment:

We coat the bed with the graphite paint (applied with a paint roller) to help the bales slide down better. It only needs reapplied every couple thousand bales. They aren't just soft fluffy bales either, they are around 1500 lbs and densely packed. They are switchgrass which is actually very abrasive.

We also apply a fresh coat before the off season. It keeps the otherwise unpainted steel bed from rusting.

Will have to consider it for my truck frame then.

Mower deck as well, I guess.

I didn't get much done this evening, have some other things going on as well. But I got the spindles all cleaned up and painted, then loosely mounted them to the ball joints. The steering arm got painted too.

There's really only a couple things you need to know about it. It's not a show quality finish, it will show rub marks. Similar to velvet I guess, but not nearly that extreme. Also, whatever you paint with it, if you have to handle it a bunch, you do get graphite residue on your hands.

Well, no progress at the moment. I ended up getting sent down to Virginia for work. While away, I'm going to look into getting paint for the firewall. Something that has that perfect low gloss sheen that GM used. I'm open to recommendations.

Still not back home to work on it, but did order some things for it. I decided on SEM Trim Black paint for the firewall and underbody.

I decided to go with an adjustable combo valve, rather than just isolating the front and rear circuits. I figured it will be easier to secure the lines and line-loc since the block will tie it all together.

And to save more fabrication time, I decided to buy the Hooker trans tunnel hump for a T56.

I also bought a new brake booster from a fella on another forum. Just a stock replacement but it's the original type finish. My original booster is kinda rough looking and it concerned me.

The CPP combo valve came in the mail today, so brake line mockup 2.0 happened.

Re-sleeved the lower bolt hole for the steering box.

Bolted up the steering box and installed the steering linkage.

I also finished stripping the trans crossmember, then graphite coated it. Aerosol spray this time.

The other night I bent up a fuel supply line to mount on the subframe. Not having any idea where the factory line was routed, I mocked up this:

But that's likely going to get scrapped. Like a dummy, I forgot all about the header. I think it will clear, but it's going to be a high heat area. I'll need to figure out something else.

Tonight I welded in my little filler pieces for the clutch master cylinder opening in the firewall.

Then welded in the DSE plate. I was just going to put some spot welds on it and then seam seal it. But one thing lead to another and I decided just to start going tacky tacky all around it.

Yeah, that fuel line wasn't going to work. Way too much exposure to heat along the entire length of it.

So I straightened out the same line and tried again.

I'm probably going to make another one. There's a few wobbles in the line that I don't like, from removing the previous bends. Unless I put some type of heat wrap on it. Then it won't bother me and I also won't have to paint it.

I had no intention of removing the heater core and heater box today, but that's what happened. The core was crusty and had a couple cracks in it. There was a mouse nest behind the blend door. There also was no foam left on the blend door.

I cleaned it all up inside and out. I painted the inside bright silver because it really helps out with future inspections inside the box. The blend door also got new foam.

Life got in the way recently and I haven't got much work done at all. But I did just make up another fuel line. I convinced myself to use the one I already had made, but when I tried to cut a couple inches from the forward end, my flare tool was having none of it. So that line got scrapped and I made a new one.

I've been trying to get everything done just right so it's all clean and tidy, but this fuel line is kicking my ass. On one of the bends, I focked up and formed it in the opposite direction. So I had to straighten it and bend it the right way, which of course, the tubing didn't care for that and it has a decent kink in it. Otherwise, I'm happy with it.

It will do I suppose. If I get another line, chances are good that I'll screw up a bend in that one too.

I'm not committed to that fuel filter placement, but I think it will work fine. I like that it's tucked down out of the way, rather than up by the carb where they tend to shake around and stress the connections.

The line itself will get a heat reflective cover.
