My oem were metal faded black and chrome peeling when I got truck. Ordered new ones, which were plastic, and inside were silver. Decided the black gave it more contrast, so I repainted them and look like this now. I do not know what was standard color when new or what was an option. To me, the black looks better.

I think it depends on the year and model. I know the argent silver and charcoal grey were available, not so sure on black.

Ugch I think the black is terrible.
Seems to be totally "anti light" to me.. I painted mine silver colored (metallic aluminum) thinking it will reflect and thus produce more light....don't you think a black headlight surround eats light? Wtf?
I don't follow the black headlight surround thinking AT ALL.
