My daughter wants to know if she can buy your truck, she wants another 1973 454 truck to go with the one she has. Love that kid. :D

1973 - 454 trucks is where it's at, huh?

454/th400/14ff gonna be the pretty standard fare , anything else specific I should be aware of/want out of a '73 BB □?
What the the "common" ratio in that 14BFF?

They are all 20s? No such thing in a half ton I don't reckon..?
Soooo 8 lugs not 5?

The white camper special has a locking differential..any idea what the most common ratio was?
3.08
3.73
4.11
4.56
Guessing the 308 was most popular.

3.73 was standard and what's in my daughter's truck. 4.10 and 4.56 was optional. 3.08 was not available.

GM changed some of the standard ratios over the years, but to be a Camper Special it had to be a 3/4 ton with HD springs. The 3.08 would not be a common ratio for a 3/4 ton HD; although it was very often used on 1/2 ton trucks.

My '75 3/4 ton Camper Special is rated at 8400 lbs GVW, and it appears that the 4.10 ratio FF axle ratio was standard, since its not listed an an option. The option sticker shows the G80 (Gov-lok) option, HD cooling, HD alternator, anti-sway bar, 9.50x16.5 tires, and other upgrades to handle the camper.

If it still has the RPO sticker in glove box look for GT4 (3.73) or GT5 (4.10).
