73/74 grill in a 76 truck

I think I’ve seen it here on what it takes to put a 73/74 grill in a later truck. My dilemma is that I’ve got a 76 gmc with a missing grill and believe it or not I’m finding more 73/74 grills and they’re less money. I really like those the best and maybe I’ll do a grill swap. Looks like the brackets aren’t deep enough on my truck for the 73/74 grill to sit in deep enough. Any tricks or remedies?

Came out great. Very happy with the look. I ordered the center and outer brackets new from lmc. The center bracket is just swap out old install new type deal. The outer brackets I needed to drill mounting holes in the core support. But there were dimples in the core support that were the exact location of the bracket bolts so that was easy. I removed the two mid way brackets that fit the 76 grill and made two little support brackets to help hold the grill steady. All in all I have 6 out of the 8 bolts holding the grill in and I think that’s enough. I one of the pictures you can see the offset brackets I made to utilize the 76 mounting holes for the 73 grill.

my dads 76 silvy has 73-74 grill didn't do anything as far as mods. wonder why smh...it was built 75 but sold as a 76...
