700r4 only shifts when I let off the gas.

I just recently put a 30 spline 700r4 transmission in my 1983 chevy K10. The truck originally had a 27 spline transmission in it. I got the 30spline from a guy that removed it from a Chevy s-10. 6cyl. engine. I wasn't thinking at the time and just threw the entire trans and torque convertor in it. Now here is my question, Will a six cylinder torque convertor work correctly for an eight cylinder motor?

Ive readjusted it multiple times. I also checked if it was hooked up, it was.

My 77 c10 was like that. Long story short my 305/350 was swapped out for a 68-72 400sbc with a 700r4 out of k1500. It was shifting according to this..

1st gear would max out at 30mph. Felt like a stage 2-3 shiftkit. Id have to let off the gas.

I adjusted my tv cable. Pulled it halfway out and it worked magnificent.

Id advise push it all the way in if its not already and pull it out 1/4" inch until you are satisfied with results.
