Hello All!

I have a 1990 Suburban 4WD with a dead 700r4. Rather than dump the money into a rebuild, I would like to swap to a manual. I found a SM465/NP205 out of a 78 Suburban on FB Marketplace for a good price. My question is overall length - will I be able to use the driveshafts I have, or will I need new shafts? Having trouble finding a solid answer. I understand the transmissions are different lengths, but does the adapter between the trans and tc make up the difference? Thanks.

When I swapped from SM465/NP205 to a 700R4/208 I had to get my rear cut down to accommodate the longer combo, so I would assume you will need to get a new shaft or get a re-tube done.

We had a random DC front shaft that worked for the front but the existing shaft was too short after the swap.

I don't know the length difference between the 241 and 208 TC's so not really apples to apples comparison.
