As said, I knew to keep an eye out for them, but I was really beginning to think they did NOT exist and whoever wrote this book or article I read that in was full of ****. So it appears they weren't.
But I still wouldn't be surprised if they were intended for GM 700r4 R&D team for troubleshooting and improvements then they ran the rest of them until they ran out before they changed over the tool and die at the ..... (WTF, mind drew a blank, the factory where blocks, heads, cranks and castings are made. What's that factory called?) Dammit, I hate when I can't think of a word.
So when did the pressure taps end, 89???..
Good to know, thanks..Yes, I believe so. According to what I've found so far.
Originally from my 89 trans am. 700r4 with pressure taps. Going in my 67 after shift kit

I have only 3 at the moment, all 2nd Gen with Aux VB...I believe. I had to check mine that same night we were talking about it. No, nine of them have the shell or any upgrades. In fact these are all original... 1 '89, 2 '88s... the only mods are the ones I put in. And when I overhaul my 1st 700r4, all those upgrades will be put in.
I finished the modifications on the latest with the full SK700 kit. Test drove it & I can definitely feel the difference over all. No more clanging when down shifting, nice crisp shifts too. The reason I had to do something, I was having issues with the TV, TV cable, & governor. It was having trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd, whether I was shifting manually or not. All fixed now. May tweak the cable a bit more though
Yes, they do. I'm down to 4 400's, one of them being that Olds Variable Pitch 400. About the same in Th350 one being Universal Bell, and then then about 5 700r4's and 3 or 4L60-Es. I haven't collected anymore in awhile and have sold a couple when I was offered to much. But as you said, people think they're gold so some will pay close to gold for them if they need them bad enough. My pile is dwindling down, only have 5 400's and 6 350's left and one Cad 400, and people think that cores are made of gold these days.
Wish I had some 700/4L60's can't find them around here, and when you do they want a ridiculous price for them.Yes, they do. I'm down to 4 400's, one of them being that Olds Variable Pitch 400. I just sold a Chevy 400 case only with a broken bell housing. The guy broke his at the track and is going with a Super Bell on his next build so he didn't care it had a chunk missing at one of the bolt bosses. He offered $50 so hell yeah. For a case I won't be using, I'll take it.
