SPID contains VIN. If VIN on SPID does not match VIN on truck SPID is incorrect.

That sticker is on the wheel well inside the engine bay on mine. Plus it just says standard axle, check in the engine bay 83kid..where it is on my 83 truck. I only found out mine is a 3.08 from the ring gear when I did a fluid change on the rear diff.

If you are only turning 3 grand in 3rd at 75, you most definitely have a "high" gear like 3.08. People use the wrong terms all the time with rear gears. A "low" gear is 4.10 or 4.56. Higher number = lower gear.

Exactly correct. This is why I sometimes use terms like a TALL gear, as in a 3.08, or a SHORT gear, as in a 4.10 or 4.56. Low gearered means High numbers. Just for splainin', Gear Ratio is how many times the driveshaft spins to 1 full tire rotation. 3.08 means the driveshaft spins 3 + .08 times or just over 3 times to 1 tire rotation. So if 3.08 is just over 3, and 4.10 is just over 4, it's easy to figure out that 4.10 is 25% lower geared than 3.08 which is quite significant. Or you can look at it as 25% more torque multiplication to the wheels and to the ground.

I'm thinking he's got 3.42s if he has 33s and spinning 3k at 75mph maybe even 3.55s or what ever.

100kmh for me is 25/2600 rpm with 33s and 3.42s in 3rd gear 1:1

Not sure how accurate this is as I haven't had a chance to look at my truck regarding it but I found this the other day:
http://www.novaresource.org/axle.htm

We've got better than that in our Squarebody Library. Thanks to RetroC10Sport, We have codes SPECIFIC for our squares only. In both front and rear axles codes.

Oh that sux. You got one of the repeating codes. I also have one that could have been 3.73 or 3.42 in a 14b SF depending on if it were an 84 or an 85 axle.

I hate to thread highjack but what gear should I be driving in? I'm sorry for the noob question, I just want to make sure I don't ruin my tyranny. I have an 86 Chevy k10 suburban with a 350tbi (engine), a 700r4 (transmission), and 3.73 (gears). I'm currently running a 15x10 (rim) and a 15x12.5x33 (tire). Should I be running in OD, D, 2, or 1? Most of my driving is done on the highway at 65mph?

You should be in OD. 3.73 is plenty good for your setup.

Only as long as your Torque Converter Lockup is functioning properly other wise it will still generate excessive heat.
