Hey gents I'm ready to put in a round 7 pin trailer harness on my 79 K20. Any opinions on which one to get? I have a feeling I'm going to have to run new wires most of the way so maybe one with lots of wire?

I got the Hoppy 7 pin flush mount connecter with the 4 pin connector built into the side with the weather cover. I mounted it in the bumper since I tow every day. Nice and solid, I can cross the field through the ruts and not worry about smacking it under the bumper and ripping it off or damaging it. Only thing that sucks is cutting having to cut the hole in the bumper but for my application it was worth it. I think they have harness adapters for the newer vehicle but I have not seen them for squarebodies so it's a wire up job. They do make a bracket to mount it under bumper/receiver.

I use the same Hoppy connectors that 89S has, although I do mount mine under the bumper. The hitch kinda protects them, but I did manage to bugger up the connector on the 4x4 Burb earlier this year. I was told I had the truck pointed nearly straight up in the air for a second, so it probably hit the ground then. I think it would be fine for normal driving, as nothing has tagged the connector on the 2wd Burb.

I just wired them to the factory trailer wiring that was under the rear of the truck.
