Well technically this car is not my "other car" actually, it isnt my car at all.. but I dont care. Its really cool anyway and deserves its own thread. So my brother bought this car for $2,000 about a year ago. It had a 500hp+ built 350 in it when he bought it but after putting about 200 miles on the car it dropped a valve in the cylinder and goodbye engine.... so the car has been sitting in our shop for about a year and has finally been revived!!!!! I had bought an 84 stepside donnor truck a while back and I sold him the engine that was in it (an 87 tbi motor) and cleaned and painted it got rid of the TBI setup and threw a few goodies on it and dropped it in! Here is how it sits now. Keep in mind he has about 3k invested in the car including the intial buy.

Here is the old engine. This engine earned it the Ol' Grumpy name

nice looking el camino, I like the edelbrock valve covers and stuff but they needed some love, looks good now, looks like the same valve covers I just ordered for my 88. You remember what brand they are? Looks like the same kinda oil fill cap I was going to use and breather.

I believe those valve cover are from Mr. Gasket, ya its hard to find nice covers for a decent price for the centerbolt heads.

mine are spectre, only problem so far is the fact they said all 3 holes were 1.25, well 2 are and that's good but the 3rd. for the oil filler was 1-3/8 and uses a screw in oil fill cap like stock. I had already bought a nice gmpp or proform bowtie oil fill cap push in style and breather with the same bowtie. I took them back today, going to order the plane jane chrome ones. That way the oil fill is a screw in and I don't have to try and rig something up in the oversized hole, not to mention it matches the power steering dipstick too.

Ya man idk what it is about this car that appeals to me.... I mean its only a two seater, and you cant really haul anything worth hauling, so really its kind of pointless....... But god damn its BADASS! :roflbow:

my favorite el camino's are the 1970 one but that's mostly because my favorite car is a 1970 Chevelle and they share the same nose. This 69 is definitely one cool ride!!! :) I also like the 67's.
