Question...is that the stock rear bumper??? If not, I find it odd that someone would buy a vehicle knowing they plan to never drive it and keep as collector vehicles yet swap rear bumpers and remove all the protective plastic. Used to see a lot of auctions for Buick GN's with no miles and all the floor mats/seats, etc would have all the factory plastic in place.

And why a repop sticker when you bought the car fully knowing you were never going to drive it. You'd have kept the original.
The vehicles history cannot be verified - the two brothers who purchased it, whether from the dealership or from someone else, had zero title history until 2024 when the vehicle came up for sale after they were both killed by police. Not pointing fingers at anything in particular but its not a great start, and then on top of that all of the other vehicles sold from this estate had mileage issues...

Title's SELDOM match actual mileage, that doesn't mean SQUAT if they don't. Several of my title's state mileage at the time of registration. You can essentially tell the DMV annything on the mileage at the time of registration, as they usually never check to verify. At least that's how it is in this state. You'd have to be a brain-dead, nit-picker to not believe what the ODO say's on this truck. You can also have the mileage CORRECTED on the title if it isn't correct when you register the vehicle. And yes, that's a STOCK rear bumper. The dealers usually take off all the shipping protection film, so it being removed doesn't mean anything neither. It's crazy that the truck brought that much on BAT, but some of those people have more $ than brain cells also. I believe some of you are correct in believing tht BAT is a laundering site. I watched an action earlier this year that a restored 1978 Honda CR250 sold for $13k. just 2 months after several very nice one's went threw the LV Mecum Motorcycle auction for 1/2 that price. People with $ tend to just drive the prices out of the stratosphere, making eveyone with a rusted out POS Square, think it's worth $15k.

I seriously doubt it's a re-pop sticker. I think some people are really over-thinking the discrepancies.

It definitely is not the most intuitive way to do that, IMO. Not sure why they would make it so you have to hover over it to have it tell you that.

I would not at all doubt there is some under the table business that goes on.

I try to stay away from conspiracy theory's and tinfoil hats, but I read somewhere that these classic car auctions (BaT, Mecum, Barret Jackson, Etc) could be a great way to move and launder money, or artificially inflate values of specific vehicles, since like art, vehicles are worth what someone might deem it to be worth. Which speaking of art, and art sales, I'd bet that there must be a fair amount of that going on with art sales too.

Or could be someone with very deep pockets or wheeling and dealing elsewhere. If you look at their wins on their page they dropped over $100k in just the last two months. Crazy at any rate.
Probably trying to get rid of some $ before tax time!

Maybe that's what the brothers who had these vehicles were doing... laundering ill gotten $$$$?

For years I resto'd 4N cars, some worth 6 figures and usually through Mecum or Worldwide (Auburn). Guy I did ALOT of cars for was good buddies with Dale Mecum and the guy who ran Pebble Beach but left to run Worldwide (Rob or Rod something). Those are months in planning, so at times we'd look at a site like BaT. It was almost expected for BaT to turn down listing any of them, 100% of the time saying (seriously) "they weren't that popular". Within 60 days we'd see several of the same models listed there and all going for well above market values, but with the same 8-10 bidders involved.

Wouldn't surprised me at all if they were a laundering site. This is 2024 - no conspiracy theories are needed. For all you know those trucks could have fuel tanks full of 'stuff' or doors packed with cash. I think there was alot more going on there with those 2 brothers that we'll never know.

The other low mileage square that sold alongside this one at the estate auction was a blazer with 40 miles on the odo. The title said 80k.

In Texas, if the mileage is past a certain amount, it will say "exempt" in that blank. Especially on an older truck since the idea is it's a commercial vehicle....

Yup money laundering or something. Too much weirdness and way too far above what it would sell for even at inflated auction values like Mecum etc.
Think about it.
Plus these trucks are NOT that cool!
Of course anything is possible but the history surrounding the prev owners combined with the likelihood someone was dumb enough to legitimately spend $150k on a Square says this is some sort of fraud.
No need to overthink it.
