5 ac compressors

Isn't there a pressure sensor near the condenser also? It may be bad. When I had my Honda EX Vtec I don't know how many sensors I had to replace that one by one went out. The one thing I hate doing is tracking down electrical problems by putting a volt meter to ends of plugs because the manual says to check for grounds and power to one wire or two in the end of a plug. Then you have to check the wiring for damage. Some of that wire you just can't get to because it up inside the A/C unit. That's work for a shop, not me in my driveway.

So let me ask ya'll this, how do contaminants get inside a closed system? Black death? What is that? Are you talking about Black mold? Inside a closed system? How did it get in there? I could see some of the problems @Bother Bill is talking about if this vehicle sat up for a long time with parts missing from it.

Like many off brand vendors these days I'll bet he's got into a whole run of bad compressors. I've seen it in many parts I've bought over the years since China makes most of them under ten dozen names. It's junk. And when Advance Auto buys a whole lot of compressors and they go into all their stores and they are all, or most are all bad, you end up with whole runs of bad parts.

chemical reaction of incompatible components could result in the creation of things or just the results are not desired or good in the system. also wear over time, they usually got filters these days. also people who use a quick shot can from walmart, most refrigerant on any store shelf has UV, oil, and stop leak. On a car with a persistant leak, persistantly filled with these things... yeah.. mine had that. PO. I only put pure refrigerant in. Also, moisture. You need to draw a vacuum and purge moisture and air from empty systems and also you need to make sure the connections on gauges have no air(plus dirt, water, ozone, etc)by never opening the system until you make sure you bleed the gauges lines first(there is a valve on each connection for ports and you can open the line to the refrigerant, use the little valve to shoot out the air and stuff till its just refrigerant, then open the valve to the system as to keep it pure.

I hated and I mean hated the one can of leak dye and stop leak i put in someones car, it makes a god damn mess all over and the **** is sticky... and bright colored dye on the things.

also imperfect sealing can let in stuff, corrosion of aluminum because of prior contaminents etc

ive seen one way leaks. no leaks under vacuum, leaks under pressure.
then ********* who dont verify clean components and no physical debris gets in when installing. never can forget the simple answer is sometimes lazy motherfuckers touch **** and it shows

like how many leaks could my PO of my car have fixed with how many cans they had to have dumped in?

im not kidding when I say my compressor was literally full in each port of uv and stop leak and oil when i pulled it off(lines stayed on tillit was ready to come out.....)

Got the suburban home and finally got the clutch puller in the mail today.

The air gap between clutch and compressor pully was 0, I'm guessing this is the cause for the "slipping clutch" and the burned up compressors. It is now about .032".

I re wired and cleaned up the ground locations. Jumpered the clutch and got it to engage. I have continuity from the low pressure cutoff to the compressor.

I have power up to the low pressure cutoff on the accumulator, but I could not get the clutch to engage when I turned on the a/c controls in the cab.

I have a new pressure cutoff switch and a new dash switch in the mail (clearly not the dash switch, but I ordered it before I did all of this).

I figure its one of two things (or both I suppose)...
1) bad low pressure cutoff switch Swapped this out tonight and it didn't help.
2) the low side pressure really is too low or too high

Anything else I need to check on?

verify between the switch and where ever it switches

Generally they are running an automatic machine that will pull the refrigerant and oil out and run it through a filter. They draw it down, then open up lines and look. You can tell pretty easily when it has a contamination issue. You'll see sparkly stuff in a line or even worse black death when you crack a line. Black death means you need to replace everything... you'll never get it out of all the little spots and it will kill a new compressor fast.
A recycler doesn't pull the or should I say all the oil out. It just recycles the freon.

Is the air dryer and orifice tube new? If those two are dirty AF and have never been replaced, this could be why. Also, i assume you are charging it with r134.
Are you going by the correct pressures for the ambient temps outside??

And is the thing properly grounded with a clean 12v sourcd going to it

Sorry all, didn't mean to post and run. Got jammed up and working long hours.

All hard parts have been replaced, system flushed. Converted to R134. First two models were 58235 and then a third was tried 57235, that one lasted the longest before the clutch failed. Went down tonight to the shop as they fired up the 4th try (thought they were on number 5). It seems the clutch won't stay engaged. I wish I would have thought to video it while there but didn't think of it. The clutch will engage for 10-15 seconds and then disengage. They claim it was same thing for first 3, that it would do that until the clutch overheated and then would leak compressor oil.

I had them turn the truck off tonight before the newest compressor failed. I'll pull the belt off and bring it home until I can come up with some other ideas to try.
Engage and disengage sounds like it's either low or high on charge. But what doesn't make sense is a compressor can do this for weeks and not burn up. Engaging and disengaging half a dozen times every 15 seconds won't hurt the compressor or clutch really.

Black death is what they call it when a compressor goes bad and blows metal shavings all through the stystem and the oil is a black sludge. Usually common on Fords for some reason but anything can do it. Once you get black death if you don't flush it clean the old compressor will live a short life.

Let's back up the boat here. Has anyone hooked a set of gauges to the low and high side? If so what are the pressures? How much R134 was the system filled with? Can we verify the system held a vacuum before the charge was put in?
