I decided to break even more dough out for a new cap, rotor, and wire set from Advanced Auto. I have been wire wheeling the lousy standard metal contacts off my cheap cap and rotor set for too long, and the more you do it, the worse it gets. So I took the advice of a few here to spend the money on the brass contact set.

I went in the store and they had the Duralast set and a Accel set. I immediatly jumped on the Accel set to look at first. However, besides the fancy packaging, and the name on the box, I was very dissapointed to see 2 of the contacts in the cap were twisted, and the metal strip on the rotor was a plain metal.

So I looked at the Duralast set, and they were right on the money and the rotor even had a brass strip on it. And I also went with the Duralast plug wires. Even the mounting screws on the Duralast cap were brass, and the Accel ones were white metal.

I paid $29.99 for the Duralast Cap and Rotor set, and $19.99 for the wire set. I will do a write up on this install.

You said Advanced Auto, but I think you meant Auto Zone. Duralast is Auto Zone only brand I do believe. But, you did the right move there. Auto Zone sells the cheap cap and cheap rotor seperatly. Then they sell the upgraded set with both Cap and Rotor. It ends up being about $6-$8 more, but its much better quality. Even the plastic is heavier.

Why didnt you the OEM brand name which is ac delco? I'd admit that bought pro start wire set for 350 and ac delco plugs. Thinking about selling them to someone else and buy the ac delco wires plus the cap and rotor from ac delco. Ac delco lasts longer compared to that aftermarket stuff.
