Are you sure its not the light that goes in the 4wd shift bezel to light it up when your lights are on?. Kind of easy to tell, if you turn your headlights on and it comes on with them then its not the 4wd indicator. if it stays on all the time, it isn't either (unless you drive in 4wd all the time). If it only comes on when you go into 4wd then of course it is the indicatorm, but there usually isnt a way for it to be showing from the dash unless someone did some redneck engineering... But why???. Just thought it might be worth pointing out there is an actual light that goes into the shift boot bezel so you can see it at night or low light conditions....

I wonder if it would be possible to mod one into the cluster for a 203 case. Thinking it'd be a nice little addition if it lit up when the case was in Hi/Lo LOC.

I think my old '77 K5 did have that feature. I remember for sure that it had two wires going from the case and through the floor under the shift boot, but it ended before it made it all the way to the dash. It was factory wiring, but maybe not original to that truck. The PO had swapped the drivetrain in from another.

My current '77 K5 though, I've honestly never even tried to put it in loc, so I don't know about that one.

The light comes on and off when 4wheel drive is engaged and disengaged. It’s not an issue really just bugs me that it’s just dangling under the dash. I bave it wrapped around the e-brake pedal to keep it out of the way.

You can still get the handle assembly new from GM....it aint cheap at about $160 or so but its worth replacing! The rest of the hardware can be restored-but imo a new handle assembly is worth the $$.

I called the local dealer near me and they said it's discontinued... Good looking out though:) I will try fixing what I have and then go from there. Thanks again...

came to $138 with shipping... Thanks!!! can't wait to fix all these little stupid things:) I am loving my new bench seat... That so far is by far my most favorite fix... I am a big guy, 5'11" 260lbs and I don't sink a bit into this rebuilt seat:) love fixing her up... can't wait until all the little crapola is done. I would love to look at the dash and remember what it I saw when I was a kid riding in Dad's brand new square bodies.
