Thread dedicated to the operation options of the 4L80-E in a Non Electronic Vehicle !!!

Options:
#1 No Computer at all. Full Manual Valve Body. This means, No Automatic Function at all whatsoever, not even Lock Up Torque Converter, you shift it manually, and lock up the TC with a push button, then your brake pedal or downshifting disables lock up.
#2 CompuShift Aftermarket Stand Alone Computer, Very Pricey, usually $1000 or so.
#3 OptiShift Aftermarket Stand Alone, very adjustable and a bit better on price, usually around $600 or so.
#4 GM OEM 6.2/6.5 Diesel Stand Alone Computer on 91 - 93 1 ton trucks. Rare and Hard to Find. (Someone confirm those years for me, I think I'm close, but wrong)
#5 Per Jims86, OEM 7427 PCM from a 94-95 GM Truck

This Post will be updated as info comes in, like years, makes and models of vehicle to find ECMs and wiring harnesses from.

you can also use a 7427 PCM from a 94-95 truck to run an E trans.

For real? Just kill off the TBI ******** or what? So you're saying it can work as a Standalone??? Do tell !!! I gots a 4L80-E just outside the back door here wanting to be played with.

Yarp...you would keep the Map, vss, and tps, and disable all the other non trans stuff.
they do have tps kits for a lot of carbs, so its not a big whoop.
there is already an ignition only hack for the 7747 tbi ecm. run a carb, with electronic ignition, but with programmable timing, instead of messing with weights, springs and vac advance. nothing like the CCC setup, BTW.

hmmm, this does sound great. I'm not against having the computer controlled timing either. I"m aware of Carb TPS kits. So this means I'd need a knock sensor too for the timing advance? And a TBI generation V8 Dizzy or just take out he weights and vac ball off the OEM HEI?

Ahh ****, may as well take this to a new thread.

Another Question Jim, What models of truck in 94-95. Just the ones that have the 4L80-E, like the 3/4 and 1 tons, or did the 3/4's even get the 4L80-E in those years? I'll assume the ECM from even half tons would work, but wouldn't it be best to get it from a model that has the 4L80-E in it already so you're sure to have the correct harness for the trans itself???

What? That Jim is gonna get banned for withholding info, or upgrading to a 4L80-E? With my plans having to change, and going cheap way out, rather than buy 4.56 front gears for one of of the 4x4's, I'll use the 4.10 front and rear axles I have, then use the CUCV 4.56 with Locker that I have in a 2wd and run the 4L80-E that I have so it's still freeway driveable with 4.56.s and 31 inch tires.

Damn, Didnt even see this thread....
You can use any truck ECM from 94-95, as they are all the 7427 with the red and blue connectors. For TPS on A q-jet, or any other carb that there is no TPS kit available, you can fab up a TPS bracket that hangs off of the drivers side rear carb bolt, and run a cable from the throttle crank, to the TPS. As far as programming is concerned, you can get A moates APU1 package with TunerproRT, or throw one of the guys on Gearhead-efi.com a few bucks to program custom shift points.

Part # 210 Throttle Position Sensor !!! Whoooop There it is !!!
I think I have one of those carbs too. It came on my 84 C20 when I bought it, and I swapped out to a non E correct carb.
