454 year

My 1980 GMC came with the 400 from the factory my brother installed the 454 out of one of his other trucks but I don't remember what year, how do I identify the year of this 454?
Or how do I identify anything on this 454?

There's going to be an engine code stamped on the block in front of the passenger side cylinder head. Get us that code,someone will I.D. it or go online and try to find a copy of lime book to I.D it yourself.

Much harder to see, but there will be a block casting number and also a date code at the rear of the block, just above the bellhousing area. If the block has ever been decked, it probably won't have the code up by the water pump area.
