Yeah see it didn’t make 500 lmao see you proved his point better throw it away and get a 5.3..... kidding of course lol
I was always told a studded 2 bolt big block was good for 600hp and 6000 rpm. Just saying. You don’t have to splay either you can use OEM main caps and have the extra holes drilled and tapped. Now with studsyou don’t want to just crank in the stud for the strongest hold i was taught to drop a small ball bearing down the hole so the stud has something to bottom on to get a proper torque.I'm looking at a similar question...found a good running '73 454 with a Th400 on it for $700. Told it is a 2 bolt block, stock bore (as far as owner knows). I want to do a 496, for right now just plan on throwing it in my truck and running it till I have all the parts to do my build. Has anyone done a splayed main conversion on a two bolt and if so, was it worth it? (assuming shooting for mid 500 hp)
Yes it is but if your not building an 800+ hp 7000rpm engine it isn’t nessesaryI believe splayed is stronger but not necessary if your worried about em moving get a girdle
