I went to change the slave cylinder but the new one won't fix because the exhuast is in the way. Obviously my old one bent a little to fix. So I'm thinking if i get headers will that give me more room. Anyone run into this before? It's a 454 swapped in so the room is tight with the stock manifolds from a TBI. Now it's Carb. What brand headers would be my best fit? Thanks

I only mess with the older stuff so I dont know about the hyd. clutch stuff but I have done a ton of hog block swap's and the only header's I like are doug thorley tri y's. I took a chance and ran heddman elite's on my blazer, (smallblock) and they are really good but the fitment of the tri y's is way better on my other square's, (not cheap header's but worth the price).

Anyway, some guys insist that long tube headers are better for torque than short tube. Just thought i would throw that thought into the pot.

Dyno testing doesn't lie :)

Several brands and styles fit well, but I can't say how they are as far as slave cylinder clearance.

I've seen guys use nova and chevelle headers on square bodies. They tuck real nice, but sometimes they get in the way of automatic shifter linkages. The flanges may also need to be cut and rewelded. As for a manual, I'm unsure how it might pose as a fitment issue.

Anybody know of a good bbc header with at least 2.125" primaries for a 4x4 Burban?

Welcome to GMSB Thesesl. You too might want to specify auto or manual transmission and if manual, hydro clutch or Z bar linkage.

With a floor mounted shifter on an automatic there are very good options as well like A body headers.

Damn, where can I get a set of those? I like the white look a lot, and that industrial look is spot on!

Honestly though, that's not a bad idea for fabbing up custom headers rather than the special high $$ kits you can get. What is that, $15 in PVC? Custom fit it with the fittings then fab it up with real tubes!

AT your local hardware store in the plumbing section. Don't forget your Oatey Cement to seal them.
