This damage isnt from abrasion is it? Maybe casting sand was still in the cooling passages of the block/heads?I use Zerex G05 50/50 mix. My truck originally had a 305 with a ton of miles and wiped the cam so I put a new GM 350 crate motor in and swapped the pulleys from the 305.
Not using any of the modern flushes. In the old days there use to be a powdered radiator flush that was an acid, and after running one of those you had to put in a neutralizer. That stuff went away when aluminum radiators came along because it would eat right though them.Could a chemical flush cause corrosion of water pump?
