I'm switching my 350 to a 454 my current truck 87 v20 .the motor came outa a 93 burb.heres my question will my computer work or do I need the 454 computer. what do I have to do if anything electrical wise ty all

Should be able to swap the EPROM.

I recommend getting the ecm and harness possibly transmission (if 4l80e) from the 93. The new ecm uses 3 wire o2 sensor has a faster baud rate for data logging and will control the tranny also.

the trannys is junk.so that shoots that idea out.wheres the eprom located on my v20 and where is it on the burb?

the trannys is junk.so that shoots that idea out.wheres the eprom located on my v20 and where is it on the burb?
I also plan on running headers ill still need a 02 sensor??

Absolutely.

The EProm is the "chip" in the ECU. I'm not sure where they have the ECU on a square. On the Suburban it should be under the glovebox.

If you have a 700r4 and bolt the 454 to it your 700 is going to be junk also unless you have already spent the money for an upgraded one. The 350 turbo will live longer than 700 but in stock form the 454 will probably trash it too. If it is the 4l80e get it cheap they can be reuilt and cores are not cheap.

Another dilemma is ESC operation if you use the newer computer. The module is integrated in the newer one, and on the square body, it's a square hockey puck looking thing that sits on a carrier by the MAP sensor and EGR solenoid. I would use the older 7747 ECM on the newer motor and try to setup the Electronic Spark Control circuit on the new motor as it was on the 350. It should just be a matter of putting an ESC sensor on the 454 (not sure if 350 one will work), plug it in, and make sure the knock sensor's in the loop. That would be easier to me than having to deal with the transmission portion of the later ECM. Also, you cannot swap the memory chips between those the older ECM and the newer PCM. The older one uses a PROM and a separate CALPAK for its memory involved operations. In '92/'93 when they became PCMs with integrated transmission controls and integrated ESC, they also combined the PROM and CALPAK into what's called a MEMCAL. The PROM is a small, black, unpluggable rectangle, and the CALPAK is a smaller, black, integrated rectangle. The MEMCAL is a long, blue thing that is completely non-interchangeable with a pre-'92 ECM.

Mine runs just fine with the 350 computer and the built 700r4. I used all the sensors from the 350 so I didn't need to change any pigtails

Bummer... And my apologies, I thought they stayed the same to 95.
It's alright. ECMs did stay on vehicles with manual transmissions through '95. They didn't have the internal transmission controls, and the ESC module remained external so the setups on those were pretty much the same as the older 7747 setup, but the computers themselves were different.
