Would smaller chamber 305 heads give me a bump in low end torque on a 350 tbi? Truck mostly stays below 3500 and a bump in torque would be nice and 305 heads are basically a dime a dozen around me

They will work, but will run out of power way before the 350 heads…
We used to run them on circle track street stock cars, they were cheap and did seem to have more low end power… but wouldn’t achieve the same top end.

I figured, but my truck is more of a dd/offroad rig so doesn’t see much top end anyway. Just wondering if it’s worth while for a bit more low end grunt

Raise in Compression ratio, but does our current gasoline really let us benefit from higher compression? You might have to take so much timing out of it to compensate, it might be a worthless gain and just have a gutless dog worse than it already is. I I think if I was to want to do anything, I'd go for a set of Vortech heads. So you're talking higher compression, bigger valves over the Wee O Five heads and for sure will breathe way much better than either the 350 or the 305 heads. To do this you'll have to change intake manifoldss also. Maybe an afternarket Eddybrock for some increased throttle response also.

When on a super tight budget I'm normally all for a set of ported 305 heads on a 350... but that's with a lazy, low compression 70's or early 80's 350. With a TBI 350, I wouldn't do it. They aren't a lazy engine at all and I don't think there would be any gains on the low end.
