My 79 1/2 had 33's with 3.08's. Definitely not fast, especially with all the smog equipment, but did OK. I turned about 2000 RPM at 65. I swapped to 3/4 running gear with 4.10's and 33's. Better off the line and up to freeways speeds, but I was then turning almost 3000 RPM at 65. I think my truck had the factory 150 HP 350. It didn't have much to give after 60-65 MPH.

I should be fine then not really looking for speed anyway and my 350s mildly built closer to 325hp

What trans? I assume a TH 350 or 400, because I have 4.10's and 33's and only turn 2k at 65, I have overdrive though. At least I have it for a few weeks at a time until trans goes out.

Low range in the case and 1st and 2nd for crawling and low range and 2nd for mud and keep the Rpms up. I have 36s and 373s and a big block with a th400 and 262 low range but I'm just playing in the mud. Well will be soon.

6" and 2" body. Spring up front and add a leaf and shackle flip out back.

Your crawl ratio is around 40:1-52:1 (not sure which transfer case you have). Generally, rockcrawlers with a standard trans shoot for 100:1. My rock buggy with an auto was 55:1 crawl ratio and 39" tires and worked well for Western rockcrawling. Not sure the ideal for mudding, but it seems like you would be close. Mudders would want a higher ratio (lower numerically) for wheel speed.

3.42:1 with 33s was like 2500 in drive at 70, with the 700r4 first gear it was not fast off the line 373s or 410s with 33s.
