Got new bearing for the transmission and it is back together after baking some gears. Back to good preload, no noises and all working gears. Too bad I don't get to actually use it. Anybody want to buy a complete ls3?

That is done a lot in the aerospace manufacturing world too. Trying to insert steel bearings (or bushings etc) in an aluminum housing they heat up the aluminum in an oven (or with torches depending on size) and drop the bearing race in liquid nitrogen. The steel shrinks with cold temps and the aluminum expands when you heat it up, then you can simply drop it in and when it all gets back to normal temp it's never coming out. That way it's press-fit without having to worry about the steel shaving/gouging the aluminum while being forced in there. If you can make it drop into place you get the same fit with no risks of damaging during assembly

Following the usual routine. Rad support piece broken on this one as well. But this time I have a whole front frame section to test fit on before trying to install.

Having a frame section for mock up helps a lot. The piece was not only broken, but heavily bent/twisted

Yeah really. Is this a common weak point on these or does @yevgenievich just have the luck of having this issue.
Do they make skid plates for c5's?

Make it 4 out of 4, a friend of mine also picked up a c6 and it is broken. Hitting a dip at normal speed almost guarantee contact. C5 used a steel version I believe instead of aluminum

Downside of light color carpet are the spill stains. Got it better and left it on that. Sanded the yellow clear coat off the headlights. Lenses still trashed, but looks a bit better. Also needed to pass inspection, so some stock rear wheels made it on there for a day.
