So I was at my local junkyard the other day and found a 2005 ish Chevy 3500 express delivery van from my local furniture store. I looked under the hood, and there lies, from what I can tell, an LS3.
I asked my friend that runs the yard, he said it came in running, ran great. He used his fork lift to destroy the box on the back, some guy took the rear axle, and I took the leaf springs. Aside from that, nothing else is missing.
I asked him how much, he said 200$ for the engine, the whole harness, the computer, and anything else you want out of it.
I told a buddy about it, and he was going to come get it to put in his firebird, but since abandoned that project.

I'm not an LS guy, wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole, dont have any use for it, but I know alot of you guys are, and I could'nt let a good find like that go to waste. From what I've heard, they're like gold now.
I watch a bunch of shows where they talk about their "junkyard LS swap", and thought someone out there would want the same.
Figured I'd throw it out there incase there's someone that's just being dying to get there hands on one.
It's at Gallegos Auto Salvage in Las Vegas, New Mexico, or as everyone here calls it "Prim's junkyard". I can get the phone number if anyone is interested.

There is also a 4L80E in another truck at the same yard, if you want a set. He said 50$ for that.

A little dusty, but not too bad.
For a running LS3, 200 is pretty cheap

You should def buy that. That’s an absurdly low price, especially if it was still a runner.

It will be either a 4.8 or 6.0 liter. That one is cable throttle and looks like non-egr.

I thought about that, and I would, but i just dont have the time. I'm always ruining around, I dont even have a second to go grab a set of mirrors that's on a trucks there, never mind take a day off from work to go pull an engine. If I had the time, I totally would. Theres a small block 350 there too that's in a 79 C10. I really wanted to get that, but havent had time.

You know you can have a 350 out of a c10 in under an hour easy.Under 30 minutes if someone's already pulled the transmission. It's a junkyard car I've taken advantage of the situation many times. Sometimes you get lucky enough someone's pulled the radiator, and Trans mission. They usually cut the exhaust off when they pull the Trans. 2 motor mount bolts, cut all the wires and hoses and pull it out. Seriously junkyard pulls are cake.

I know, I've pull many engines out of junkyards, a buddy of mine even has a flatbed with a crane, that i like to use that makes it easier. And a small block out of a squarebody is like the easiest pull ever, but like I said, dont even have time lately to go get a set of mirrors

That's cheap, but probably older than a 2005 since cable driven throttle.
Also an LS3 would be all aluminum. It's probably a 4.3 with a cast iron block. Still a good price.

Get the mirrors while you're pulling the engine. Duh

If it was close to me and still available, I'd buy it. I'm looking for another LS/trans setup.

An update on this engine, truck got crushed a few weeks ago, it's gone.

But, at my other junkyard, there are 3 LS engines for sale, same price.
Ones in a suburban, ones in a tahoe, and ones in a 1500 truck. All about 2003ish all run.

Crazy. That engine at that price wouldn’t have lasted 3 hours in my area.
