just cosmetics. the poor ol' truck starts/runs great. 148K only on the odo.

i just watched your post here and saw the gleaming white truck looking sweet knowing i haven't the skills for bodywork. you can tell from my rust reformer spray stripe.

Yeah you’re not too far, about 120 miles from me, I’m up in the Saint Charles area.

Not sure why but it seems like the third (and even fourth) gens rust out way worse around here than the second gens do. Depending on how bad the bed is, you might be able to find a nice complete bed for less than what it would be to patch up/reskin the original one. Or comparable after you figure paint and body, being PW7 white makes things easier as that is not a rare color at all.

If you keep your eyes peeled on marketplace and Craigslist sometimes you can find a pretty good deal on them. There are quite a few people that part these trucks out in the area, most of them seem to be in the lead belt area(Farmington, Desloge, Irondale, etc).

I know that hurt when the carrier fell on ya. Talk about an oh **** moment
You got that right, way, way heavier than a 10/12 bolt carrier, I think we figured it’s about 90lbs assembled (with ring gear, tone ring, bearings, and bolts)
