2.5" or 4" Lift 1986 K10

New member after purchasing a 1986 K10. Looking for advice on Lift - currently have a 4" superlift springs up front blocks in rear. Previous owner installed a aftermarket raised steering arm for 4" lift.

33x12.5r15 tires on factory rally wheels. I dont like how the wheels don't fill the wheel well. Thinking about buying a new set of superlift 2.5" front springs and 2.5" blocks.

Thoughts? Would I need to find a factory steer arm?

You may need to do a little trimming on the bottom rear of the front fenders, if you lower it. The front wheels will rub and rip the chrome off, when you turn. I would leave it like that, it looks perfect. 1-1/2" isnt much of a difference.

I’ve had a 2.5 lift with 33s on my truck for over 20 years with no issues

Blazer sits on 33x12.5x15 KO2’s, 15x10 mags, 2.5” lift with ORD rear shackle flip and other parts. It’s close but no rub on the fenders.

Thanks for answers so far. Anyone have a view of keeping the 4” and going up to 35” tires? I may have 10” wide ralleys that is keeping my tires from filling out the wheel well area?

Removed the 4” rough country lift from my truck when we bought it and installed the sky jacket 2.5”. Much better.

It all depends on how the truck is driven. I used to run 33's (actually 33" od, which many are not) on an 8" rim, with a 4" lift and the front tires contacted the lower fenders on several occasions.

Personally, I think the truck looks great as it is.

Man that thing looks great the way it is. The bad thing with these trucks and wanting to "stuff" tires or filling up the wheel wells is they're gonna take out the fenders. Unless you get some super narrow wheels to tuck them inside, you're either going to have to keep that tire to fender ratio you have now or cut fenders. And cutting fenders is a big no-no.

^ respectfully disagree with the big no-no about cut fenders.
Maybe back east it’s that way, but out here that front fender fang would be gone.
You can push the front axle forward an inch or inch and a half and have plenty of fender clearance for 35’s.
I have no experience with how soft/flexy Superlift springs are. How much articulation to you see with your off-road driving? Do you have the front sway bar installed or removed?

You’re facing a rabbit hole with what can be done and might as wells.
My .02 is that you should decide what you want and then research/ask how it should be done.

Truck will just be a around town driver. Not much for off-roading.

Tuff Country 2” back ordered for a month - same for Skyjacker.

Thinking about buying in stock components from Summit racing and go 2.5” superlift.

I assume most people stay clear of rough country if they want a decent ride?

Did you call Skyjacker direct? That’s what I did after getting the run around from Tuff Country for over a month. Also I went all spring on mine. No blocks. Cost a little more but it is all brand new.

Sorry i dont own a cell phone to take and attach pictures. My K 20 wlll be 40 years next month .4" spring lift in rear 5 1/4" in front,3" body lift with 44x18.5 mudders. The reason the tires fit was i put bushwaker CUTOUT fender flaires that made a world of diference for clearance.4" drop down pitman arm, 1 1/2" drop down sway bar blocks. Did not drop the transfer case cause i have an 8 ft bed. never had any problems. Also added a steel bar to the front of the rear springs to help with axle wrap. Sunday driver named Reverent Black.When kids used to play outside they all waved when i went by.

I’ve had them all over the years and they all rode like $hit until I sprung for my first 4 spring 4” Skyjacker soft ride and shocks 3 squares ago… Same kit in my current truck best riding truck I’ve ever owned… Only way to get a better ride is ORD custom springs and shackle flip but it’s big money, I have a full ORD 6” ready to drop in after I drop the 572 and tranny in… Oh and ignore any nonsense about soft ride springs sagging it’s bull$hit, this kit has been suspending this truck for 8 years it at ain’t sagged an a$$ hair…

2.5” Skyjacker ez ride springs in the front, 2.5” pro comp c blocks in the rear. 33” BF AT KO2 on factory rally wheels.

I am sorry I missed this thread when you first posted it.

My '87 is on 2" blocks in the rear and 2.5" Skyjacker Soft Ride springs in the front. In fact, I removed the bottom spring out of the stack so closer to 2" in the front. 33x12.50 Coopers. I still have the OE steering arm. I don't have any tire rub at all. None.

I would like the softer ride of the new Skyjacker springs for the rear but I wanted to keep the load carrying stiffness of the original springs. The Skyjacker Hydro shocks help a lot.
