1UZ-FE, Flamesuit donned

OK, so I'm not looking for flag-waving folks, but innovative people.

I have a friend for puts Toyota/Lexus 1UZ-FE 4.0L 32V V8s in everything. I need an engine for my old K10 and thought, hmmm, wonder what it would take to adapt the 1UZ to my TH350. I can source the engine (256hp/260Tq), harness and computer for $5-600 with all the accessories. That's cheaper than and at least as reliable and smooth as an L31, Vortec5700, L99, LT1, etc.

Anybody know someone who's done this?

You will most likely have to have your bellhousing cut, and a toyota bellhousing welded on.. not sure if any adapters are availble. And then adapt a chevy flexplate. I have a friend that put one in a nissan hardbody, but that was with a manual trans though. They clean up well also if you don't want to run all the emissions and extra stuff..

Try Advance adapters. If they don't make something for the conversion, I don't know who would. http://www.advanceadapters.com

I for one, think this would be awesome. 1UZ-FE's are pretty damn tough.

The cost of the motor itself is nothing. I'd bet that by the time you get it in and driving you'll have spent a lot more than if you did a simpler LS swap.

Got that right. I had one in my Lexus sc400, I loved that car. Always barked those rear tires, would haul ass on mid grade. Pita to change the plugs * I ditched all the plastic cover crap*.

LS would be my choice.

If your planning on going with a toyota engine why not the 5.7 v8 they have in there tundras twice the hp and and torque of the one your looking at.

A newbie hit it. That's usually how older threads come back to life. They get found in a search engine. And of course we welcome old threads coming back to life and getting a 2nd, 3rd and even 4th or 5th wind.
