Lol, I'm slow and you've got to keep it simple for me.

I've got one of those digital clusters. I got it years ago to use in my S10, but when I bench tested it, there was something wrong with it. It's been so long, I don't remember what the issue was with it.

Guarantee almost 10/10 the issue is either old cracked cold soldering from the mfg or dead resistors/caps

I had to go thru the whole "digital dash gimmick" every s10 owner suffers that gets the cool VFD... Mine only Partially illuminated when I got it in.... 2013?

Inspected the board with a magnifying glass, found some broken soldering on the pins, and like I said, I had to replace some resistors, and 1 or 2 capacitors on the board...

Lmk if you ever wanna pursue that route, I have EN-STRUKT-SHE-ON'S on that procedure noted and saved...

When I said earlier "ask me how I know" about the black/white gauges like what's in your ss454, what I meant was... That digital dash drove me crazy and I had rewired my cluster bulkhead to work with a s10 cluster that used the black/white needles temporarily until I fixed my VFD disaply in my s10.

I got the cluster back in '05 or '06, I bench tested it, it wasn't right, I took it over to my dad so he could look at it and I haven't looked at it since. I didn't push the issue because I ended up installing a Sonoma GT cluster in my old S10.

That's the problem, I don't know what I like best, lol. I think the later panels look better, but it's kinda cool driving around in something that looks like nothing has changed since '90. Much like the gauge cluster. I'd much prefer the later cluster in place of the hokey looking one, but that hokey looking one is just what they looked like then and I like it for that. It also has the 110mph speedo compared to the 85mph of "lesser" trucks.

I'm pretty lucky there, the plastic is doing ok. Everything that has needed fixed up was from neglect or misuse.

Well, keep it stock until you get sick of it and are bored and want to swap it all out!! However I do not believe "boredom" happens with these trucks :anitoof:

I decided to finally reattach the cloth to the driver door panel.

The truck also got a minor detail which was much needed after a month or two of daily driving.

Looks great!

What are you running for exhaust? I see stock looking twin tailpipes, but yours look larger than factory.

Back in the day when these trucks were seen regularly you could buy performance parts for these trucks.

SLP sold underdriven pulleys and a 3” mandrel exhaust kit for it.

It still runs great with the original motor, buuuuuutt here is one I recently built for it.

468 ci .700 lift solid roller true 11.1 cr and some seriously massaged 781 oval ports.

The one with the 950 Holley xp is the 468.

The one with the blue scorpion roller rockers is my sons 496, for his c30 we are building. It’s the orange ish motor in the c30 build.

I’ll have to do an engine thread soon. I’m also building an afr headed 496 for my wife’s lifted k3500 crew cab. If you look close in the pics of the ss it’s in the back ground.

Ah yes. I'd imagine that all the old performance stuff is now unobtainium. I know that the old SLP stuff is gone, Dynomax has been discontinuing stuff for years, Flowmaster and Gibson, etc are probably a similar story.

I finally found this thread again. It's about time I guess!

Door panels?
Gotta be stock yo.
Dude's truck for example is too far away from stock for my taste.
Cant hang with the flat black either but whatever.

Ya know? Round here the 454 wheels can be found on damn near anything..i've been seein them lots lately? Somebody must make new ones...just sayin

But dude seriously. 56°?¡¿!
That sounds cold to me and I wonder...:emotions33::emotions33::emotions33:

I got one of them thermostat deals.. it's BLUE.
So I guess that's the number to beat?

No worries, hi-jack away! I enjoy seeing them all, especially with actual paint and the decals on them.

The wheels themselves were also used on the Sport model and then all through the 90's they were available on any C1500 pickup too. The 454 SS was i think the only one with black center caps. I sort of remember a base wheel that was the same rim, but silver painted. I don't remember what color the center caps were on those ones.

There's been several days now that have not been so hot and humid, the AC blows in the low 50's, or high 40's when driving down the road.

Still not a fan of cowl hoods or black paint but that is still a damn good looking driveway. Sadly no squares but a g-body, tri-5 and a muscle truck. :happy107:
Post another pic of that paint. There's more than one of us worried about how to remove/whats under that homemade textured paint.
