Hi all, we just bought a 1987 suburban last weekend. It has front bucket seats with the center console. Someone has redone the interior, but they did NOT put the inner seat belt buckles back. I bought new, aftermarket 3-pt belts, but can’t tell where the inner buckles mount on the floor. There are no holes in the carpet, etc. I can’t find and info online, it’s all about installing the door mount parts.

Do I use the rear seat mount bolts maybe?

Thanks for any info.

If you go look under the truck, you should see the mounting points. Hopefully they just left the threaded holes open, then you can use a punch or an awl to locate where to cut an opening in the carpet.

Also, that carpet seam is not in the factory location. I'm not familiar with the aftermarket carpet kits, but maybe the carpet doesn't overlap much and you can feel around under there.

Damn, I was like 6 inches off on my guess of the location, lol.

The factory belts have a plastic sleeve to hold the buckle up to where it's easily accessible, you may find them to be annoying with them being floppy like that. My plastic sleeves are cracked, but a thin little bungee cord hooking them to the side of the seat has worked great for many years.

Yeah, they came with the sleeves but not enough of the “L” brackets so I took the sleeves off for now.

I just used zip ties to secure mine to the console- works pretty good to keep them handy

Mine keep flopping down between the seat and console as well - hadn't considered the absolute perfection of the zip-tie for that particular application but its now on my to-do list next time I have the cover off the big beast.
