Hi - no - The parts books or "assembly manuals" are just that - they show the parts that make up the truck, usually by groups, eg. engine, transmission, front sheet metal, interior etc. These are my favourite as there are always details that you pick u on as to how the trucks were put together on the assembly line. Really helps if you have a truck that has passed through a number of owners or held together with zip ties and duct tape.
The service manuals show how to repair or maintain the vehicle. Depending on what brand you choose, I often find that some needed steps are missed out in the descriptions ( assumed knowledge I guess ), which is frustrating when you are trying to figure out how to do a job. The Parts books often help here, as you can figure out how something goes together, or what might be behind that castle nut ( hidden grub screw or circlip etc. )
Both are useful, just different.
I am working away right now. When I get a chance I'll post some pics that will show the difference, otherwise I am sure there are other members that have examples of GM Part Books and the illustrations to show what I mean....
