Here's my '87 straight from 1989. In post #2, are those dually stripes? See photo #4. They go over the rear fenders.

Well, they’re going where they go, now! Thanks for the other pics to ponder.
If you look, there are still differences between some of the pics.
I still have a little adjustability. But it does seem some trucks taper down more “perfectly” and others are a little more squared up.

@Craig 85
Yes they are. There are also long straight stripes in the kit for srw trucks.
The kit has stripes for all models.

I’ve painted a hundred of these trucks and the best I’ve found is to mock up your decals after the first colour is on and divide the difference to get the 2 tone line in the middle of your stripe. If you clear over both colours at the same time there will be no god awful edge in the middle of the stripe and give you some wiggle room. I always lay out all the stripes till it looks right. The factory throws them on over a vicious 2 tone line and that shows through, yuk. It’s most important to have a nice look down the side and it’s easier to start with the look at the grille and marker light. When the decal is relaxed in place that is your bench mark for the side.

Not 100% sure, but GM changed the striping location between the '88 and '89 models, at least on the Blazer/Jimmy and Suburban models.

Thanks and love your burb. Little different style than the mid 80s rigs.

Edit. Just noticed you painted your pinstripe in. That turned out well!

Appreciate the advice! I got most of the 2 tone line sanded out. The bed is butter since I re-cleared the dark stripe with the top color. Cab just needs a touch more work then I can put the stripe anywhere it covers.

Phoenix Graphics is where I saw them first. Bought mine from Holley of all places. They appear to be heavy quality vinyl. The bends and tapers on the front fender portion look very accurate as well.

I’ve painted exactly 1 now, but I did just that after the stripe was painted.
Here’s where the line ended up. I was worried that the front end wouldn’t “taper” downward enough but might have overdone that a bit. Either way I have a little room to play with.

Looks great, Grit! I'm a bit of a purist, so as close to stock as possibly imho....WHATEVER that might be! Haha. Although my paint is a bit haggard, it retains the factory scheme for 1987 anyway.
