1985 k30 starter

Any tips on how to get this past the flywheel/, driveshaft, or exhaust? Its unbolted but stuck between this stuff.Am I missing something here or do i have to remove something else. Thanks.

Mine come right our with a little twisting of the starter. I have a big block though and a 3" lift.

Must be because someone put aftermarket headers on - i guess i need to take out drive shaft : (

I removed mine from the bottom. I don’t recall any issues getting it in and out. The biggest pain was getting the shims back in when re-installing it.

I just read your last post as I was posting. I have factory manifolds.

My truck is quite similar. 1985 K30 with a 454 big block with headers, stock height and stock tires. However I can get my starter in and out no problem. Got any pictures?

I dropped the drive shaft - problem solved- but thx all!

Usually it's the opposite... sometimes you have to pull the starter to get the header in.

At any rate, that's an odd one for me. I've had small block, big block and many different brands/models of headers on these trucks. The starters have always fit out in the opening provided.
