You need some wheelie bars on that thing!


It's a 700cc in that video, with a 500cc it would still be OK to drive, but I'd probably need some sort of little cage on it in case I flip it.

Golf cart has done great for the most part..... really haven't had any complaints until this weekend... something broke inside the diff. :(
I guess I'll look into that and see what it is

The thing powers up and rotates, but doesn't move. The pinion just spins

I never did get back to this, but the issue was, the drive flange for the back tire stripped its splines out, I got another hub from A local junkyard, then it wouldn't run!

I determined that the carb may just need to go as I posted the full story on cartaholics.com (I can provide a link if it matters), and someone again suggested, "try the oem carb and fuel pump"

So I did install the oem carb, and it ran! Great!!! But kept leaning out.

I investigated at the reeds with a vaccum gauge. I was getting 18" hg pull at the "intake"

I pulled the fuel pump off, checked crank pressure.

I got 6psi, and again 18 in/hg vacuum.

The motor needs only like, 3psi to run, so the crank is making sufficient positive and negative pressure to actuate the fuel pump.

Put the pump back on, 2psi coming out.


I RTV'd the pump, tried again, it ran for a little, then just went back to no firing.

So I ordered another fuel pump. It's in my hands. More Chinese junk.

Whatever.

I'll get back on it sometime.

Since everything is right in the world again, I'm back on this. New fuel pump installed, and i warrantied out the shitti battery that won't hold a charge, it's in, I've blown all the dust off, and I'm going along checking every electrical connection under the seat.
I'm tightening every single nut that holds an electrical connection in this buggy under the seat, and if it's dirty, it gets scotch Brite, then I'm doing some continuity testing on the circuits before I even begin.

If it passes all its checks, step two is the vacuum/pressure gauge and seeing all pressures it needs to operate, if it passes those, then and only then, will I begin fiddling if it won't run

I never took the time to do any of this before, and all of the general electrical and pressure aggregations is why I gave up on it to begin with.

Even if it wasn't a Father's Day gift... what the heck is wrong with that cup? I like it.

Also, I fixed the buggy, put the replacement carb back on in conjunction with the Wong **** carb, and it lives again. Nothing magical

OK, sorry guys.
I didn't really give any information on yesterday's adventure.
After fixing all the electrical stuff and putting the battery in (I think I discharged the old one because the green "charge wire" I mistook for a ground so the voltage regulator was grounded out
A month or two ago, I put the green trickle charge wire back on the starter motor

Good thing it didn't go hay-wire. When they go bad, they apply 17 volts to the battery if you ground them out.
this is how you test the voltage regulator thats basicslly used from 1970 something all the way to early 90s on golf carts of all brands.
It just drained all the life the battery had, which is why she ended up on a charger every night


No idea how it never shorted anything out but it did repeatedly blow a fuse, so I assume that was the deal?


Anyways, I verified it is charging when it operates. And all the connections are solid and tight.

So I can see 9psi / 20 in/hg with no fuel pump on my gauge, directly at the crank case
When I install the new new fuel pump, I see 1.5psi/10" on the pump ports?

With the new old pump (I bought that in January) I see .5psi/5" on its ports

There's a definite difference because now I have a little more power.

I forcibly had to remove the old OEM carb because I'm not seeing 3 psi output
(Yall know from carbs it's best to see more than the required psi)

The old carb has more bottom end torque and more power but requires 3psi. No ifs or buts about it

This Chinese Amazon carb seems happy at the current 1.5psi that I'm seeing on output.

I see no decay in performance at WOT...... top speed , when it would need the most fueling.... so idk what's up but she runs good.

If anyone happens to ever stumble on a ezgo or the textron 244cc 2pg that's pre 1987, BUY the fuel pump if its OEM (the oem ones casting is finer quality, the Chinese pumps are beat up and poor quality, it's obvious)

I learned AFTER getting rid of my old pump (blown diaphragm stem) that like, every 2pg owner says the same thing, the replacements are never the same as the OEM


I wish I could find a matched mikuni and fuel pump that's OEM

My throttle shaft on my mikuni is sloppy

Hi, Im hoping this thread is still good. I have an 85 ezgo with kinda the same issue I think. I am not as mechanically inclined with working on it as you are so I figured i'd ask for some help.

So I rebuilt the top end of the motor, getting 115psi, new carb, fuel pump, solenoid, fuel lines, and ign coil. Starts up and runs for about 5 min then suddenly losses power and completely shuts off.

If I go to start it I can hear the micro run/stop relay click but nothing else happens. Wait about 10 seconds and it fires right up and drives for about 2 min then the same thing.

Not sure what to do but I read the whole thread and I did have gas coming out of the small overflow hose on the carb. Thank you in advance

I think Vince has taken a leave of absence, but from what you're describing I would consider a fuel supply issue. Try running out of a separate tank, bypassing as much of the vehicle fuel system as you can and see if the problem persists.
