1984 C7000 GMC

427 tall block, 5 speed trans. in a GMC roll back. Air brakes so it will stop too. Yeah, CDL required, but it even has factory AC!

Pretty cool truck.

It's under 26k gvw though, so no CDL required as long as you don't pull a trailer which would make it a combination vehicle.

Interesting. Ohio doesn't, neither does VA. Or at least they didn't a few years ago. Under 26 and no trailer, fair game with air brakes. Above that they get finicky though. If you test in a class A setup with juice brakes, you get an air brake restriction. If you test with an auto trans, you get a manual trans restriction. If you test with a bumper pull, you get a 5th wheel restriction.

Another interesting thing is that a CDL is a FED govm. license,, So how in ell Does the great state of Piss Away have any say??? But they do.

You guys are right. I called a CDL instructor, the reg's are federal. The company I contract for are the one's that require the CDL for air brakes. He also said a trailer over 10,000 lbs. requires a CDL, air or juice brakes.

The crazy part of it all, the air brakes work so much better and are so much more safe to drive loaded with than the common disc/disc juice brakes. Yet, they want a license for air brakes.

I couldn't recall the trailer rating, but yeah 10k definitely rings a bell.

So you dont need cdl for air? I should know, i was studying to get my cdl.
