Has anyone come up with a solution to the whistle noise from the went windows? Up to 45 MPH you can talk its nice and quiet. At 45 MPH is gets loud at 50 MPH it no talking at all! I installed new vent window seals, after a week of not sealing any better than the OEM units, I gave them a good coating of "protectant 303" 2-3 coats. It helped a bit but not too much!

Any and all ideas/thoughts will be tried to get it quiet!! The first 10 years the truck was VERY quiet now as the years march on it gets louder and louder.

Thanks

Olnick

This is timely post for me as my 77 has the same issue, but it obviously needs vent window seals as I can see light threw the seals and they are hard as a rock. I am sure there is post history on this issue as ever sb I've ridden it had excessive vent window noise. Aside from replacing the vent window seals is there any other fixes? I have thought a wind/rain deflector would help but I haven't found one available. Also which supplier makes the best vent window seals?

Some seals may be better than others, but if you're going to bitch about wind noise from a 50 year old truck design, that has the drag coefficient of a barn, then it's time you looked at one of these.

Shimming the latch with a coin can help a little, but it’s not an infallible solution. I used cheapie vent seals from eBay, and it got rid of almost all, if not all, of that whistle. If your latches have slop, it might be time for new ones so it can close tightly. Other than that, there’s nothing else I know to do.

If they are whining about a whistle in an old truck your big words will confuse them.

I don’t know about that one. It burns gas, and according to a certain legally insane New York congresswoman and about sixty sponsors, internal combustion needs to be gone by 2030. Maybe one of these instead?

In all fairness, most of the local yokels I talk to don’t understand what I say anyway, but I swear that’s how I normally talk.

The flashing tape comes off a lot easier than the sealant, if you ever want to open the window.

That's like a pod of gayness for the road! Even more so than the old standby, the Prius.

Thanks 1986 GMC Jimmy: It was a breath of fresh air reading your comment! Such a pleasure sharing with someone that is able to communicate! The latches were loose! My mod #9,987 was able to remove all of it and then some, That made them even more snug against the seals to no avail!! Thanks for the input.
