I have tried the silver and black standard plastic grill on my 77 and I hate both! Is there an easy way to make this style grill work? I just want real steel! Do I need different clips? brackets? Thanks!

pricey, but Engineered Vintage makes a sweet all aluminum grille for '77-'79

Wow!
I like some of their products and that grille is beautiful but, umm, yeah…I hope he sells a ton of them.
The worst thing with that is if it wasn’t anodized or clear coated.
Impossible to polish every bit of it and you suddenly have the worlds most expensive grille that looks like crap…forever.

I don’t understand the question.
What makes you think it doesn’t fit?
Btw the one you posted is aluminum I believe. Not steel but they make stainless steel ones too.
I like the look but I’d rather have original looking.

@Rumbledawg posted a very fine grille, but it is twice the price of the straight bar grille.

I hope when you said real steel you meant metal. Both of these grilles are polished aluminum.

And the grille you pictured is even less money. Here it is on ebay:

I saw the engineered vintage ones yesterday at their booth at Dino's. Very nice piece. Might consider it in the future.

they do have nice stuff, i'm running their shackle brackets-things are like an inch thick. eventually i want to get their behind the bumper winch mount.
i think that grille would look good black with just the faces polished.

'bout 35-40 yrs ago i was running a tube grille on my old K5-constantly needed work.

i was in the bush once with my crewcab and speared the stock grille with a big stick, so i bought a billet grille, got tired of always polishing the old tube grille on my blaze.
they look nice and you could buy about 10 of them for the E.V. grille. i still have it even though i fixed my stock grille and put it back on after i painted the truck. pretty hard to beat the GM design IMO.

I have one on my 75. Mounts to the factory locations, no modifications necessary. Mine is all steel. Potentially available if interested.

I have a couple of the round tube that are chrome for the 73-80. I have a square tube chrome also for the 8-87(91) also. Thanks.

I probably should have said metal, chrome or stainless just not plastic!

Ok, but still not understanding. Have you bought one and it doesn’t fit?
There are at least a couple different suppliers that offer this style of grille for 73-80 GMs.

The ones I have found, claim they don't fit when I punch in my truck information.
