Hi there.

My Chevyvan G30's accelerator pedal is quite stiff to push when accelerating and also even when the ignition is off. The engine is a refurbished V8 with only 500 miles on it. The air filter is not old by any means. I wonder, is it the spring that the accelerator cable is connected to?

Does anyone have any tips?

Make sure the cable isn’t twisted or kinked, look for obvious damage. Unhook the throttle from the carb, does the carb throttle plates move freely? If not, try moving the throttle with it unhooked.

Find out why the throttle is stiff. Having a pedal that is hard to push is an inconvenience. Having a throttle that sticks in the open position is dangerous!!

Guarantee it's the cable. I switch mine to mechanical linkages. Probably not easily done on a van.
